Demo Day Dawns for 11 Blossoming St. Louis Startups

Tomorrow, May 8th,  is another big day in the growing St. Louis innovation and entrepreneurship movement, as some of St. Louis’ brightest tech startups will gather at The Pageant in St. Louis, to tell their stories, and pitch their startups to potential investors on Capital Innovators Demo Day.  Capital Innovators is the technology accelerator fund that’s based downtown in the Railway Exchange Building, or as its commonly referred to these days as the T-Rex Building.  Capital Innovators provides tech startups with funding, resources, and connections they need to reach the next level in the growth of their blossoming businesses.

In exchange for the program and $50,000 in seed funding, Capital Innovators receives approximately 5 to 10% equity in each startup.

The eleven St. Louis startup businesses that will be making their pitches to potential investors May 8 are the “cream of the crop”: Although hundreds of applications are received for the Accelerator Program each year, only a handful of companies are accepted per class.

Two classes are conducted each year – one in the fall, and one in the spring. The May 8th Demo Day is the culmination of a year of preparation and coaching for these startups.  Now it’s time for possible investors and venture capitalists to check out their technology, hear their stories, and hopefully, write a check.

Prospective investors who will be on hand at The Pageant – 60 investors will be there this year — are from St. Louis, and from out of town, coming from as far away as Indianapolis, Kansas City, Chicago, and the Bay area, among other locations.   On Tuesday, May 7, Matt Menietti, Capital Innovators Director of Operations, appeared on KMOX Radio’s Charlie Brennan Show to preview Demo Day, and here’s the interview.
